FLASH CHARACTERS Mingus (Scene 3) – the grand villain with ridiculous facial-hair. But he’s
a lot more human than inhuman in ours, and finds ruling a constant frustration. Klittus (Scene 5) – Mingus’ somewhat embittered, cold, psychopathic
second-in-command with childhood trauma. Sports a mask. Flash (Scene 2) – the hero. In our version, an international cricket-star
with a test-match to play in three days. Finds it difficult talking to the
ladies. Often sees the ridiculousness of everything around him, which is fairly
reasonable in the circumstances. Tony
Bitpart (Scene 2)– Flash’s best friend. A real wide-boy who is always trying
to help Flash take advantage of his friend. A trifle short-lived as a character. Dale
Hardon (Scene 2)– a very well-meaning nymphomaniac. Strangely attracted to
Mingus’ seductions. Hans
Narkov (Scene 2)– the crazy professor who brings Flash and Dale to Mingus’
world. Eastern European (c.f. Topol) and unstable, if altruistic. The only one
who figured it all out. Soltan (Scene 3)– King of the Winged People. Brian Blessed, essentially, but
a little sillier. Has a perma-tan. Likes to wind Dalton up about his sexuality. Dalton (Scene 3)– Prince of Treebor. Somewhat insecure about his sexuality. Wingus (Act II, Scene 3) – Mingus’ consort. A very wife-like figure who
likes to take him down a peg or two. Very upset when he falls for Dale. Phwoara (Scene 5 – 2nd half)– Mingus’ daughter. A really saucy
wench who likes to play games and control men. A little exotic in the film, and
could be here as well. Needs to be happy wearing very little. Retribution (Scene 4)– Mingus’ guard. A very down-to-earth guy who likes his
biscuits. Dirk (Scene 4)– Another of Mingus’ guards. A similar character to
Retribution, but a bit thicker. Suggested (Scene 4)– one of Mingus’ ladies. Helpful but a little prone to
criticism. Generous
(Scene 4) – a modern woman. Ironic and very much aware of the
limitations of men. Executioner
(Scene 5 – 2nd half) – A well-meaning thicko who can do
his job because he lacks sensitivity and imagination. General
Karla (Scene 6) – In charge of Mingus’ armies, and also of the accounts
department. Crazy Germanic woman with a love of leather. Has strange
relationship with Klilttus. Commander
Bridge (Act II, Scene 1) – In
charge of the phallic-shaped War Rocket Ejax. Loves his toy. Slightly tetchy at
times. Novelty
(Act II, Scene 2) – One of Mingus’ earnest but dim guards Simper (Act II, Scene 2) – Another guard. Not so dim and more long-suffering. Flighty (Act II, Scene 3) – Wingus’ lady-in-waiting and adviser. Often talks
when she should keep quiet. Expenses (Act II, Scene 4) – An accountant and masochist who gets very excited
when General Karla whips him. Addition
(Act II, Scene 4) SILENT PART – physical acting only. A dim accountant
who counts on his fingers and works with his tongue out. Try-Hard
(Act II, Scene 4) SILENT PART – physical acting only. A swotty
accountant who looks smug when others get told off. Accounts-Master
Mathmo (Act II, Scene 4) – in
charge of the accounts department. Likes everything to be in order. King
Dalton (Act II, Scene 6) – second half only (near the end) – Essentially,
Elton John. Super-camp and loveyish. Fakebake (Scene 3, read in Soltan) – Soltan’s wing-man. Like Soltan, he loves
a good laugh, but his has yet to be quite so booming. Mrs.
Soltan (Act II, Scene 3 – read in Wingus)– we see where Wingus gets it
from. She has Soltan totally under the thumb. Green
Peter (Act II, Scene 6) – An ill-fated Treeborian who wants to join
Dalton’s drinking society. O’Brien
(Act II, Scene 6) – Dalton’s second-in-command. A bit creepy and
sycophantish. |
