Girton Players’ spring production is a lively comedy by new playwright Paul
Gisby from Cheshire. The play lifts the lid on a group of amateur writers who
meet every month in their local scout hut to discuss their work, exchange tips
and seek mutual encouragement.
Closer examination of this cosy village scene reveals a whirlwind of love
affairs, jealousy, rivalry and literary one-upmanship, punctuated with readings
of often excruciatingly funny amateur penmanship.
Paul’s play is witty and irreverent, and recommended to anyone who has ever
written or tried to write - or attended any local village meeting!
This play had not been seen in Cambridge before but has subsequently been
produced by another local group after seeing ours.
